the story of Kid Cal

Once upon a time there lived a notorious outlaw named Kid Cal. He was feared far and wide for his dastardly deeds and over sized cowboy hat. He went from town to town robbing the local inhabitants, stealing steaks, and tipping cows. One day, in the town of Podge, Kid Cal was in the midst of robbing Joe Banker when he was interrupted by... Sheriff Thrasher! This man had caught many a crook, walked many a trail, and drank many a cup of coffee. Kid Cal knew he would have to act fast, and he did.
Instead of shooting (which would obviously have been what the Sheriff was expecting) the Kid swung his rifle and knocked Sheriff Thrasher out cold, tying both of his victims up. And then he laughed.
He was so preoccupied with his laughing in fact that he didn't hear the sound of footsteps behind him. And then when he did, it was far to late. He saw a blur of a gun barrel and flying braids, and then...nothing.
It was Bri Brady, who also happened to be the best shot in town.
And so ended the notorious reign of Kid Cal. He was thrown into Podge Prison (which I believe is a wooden chair in the middle of a field). The good townspeople were never harassed again and lived happily ever after.
The End.

It's hard to have a bad day...

...when leaves are changing color and blowing in the breeze ...when you have big, hippie hair
...when you have a dog who loves you
...when you love the dog back
...when the sky is blue, and the sun is out ...when everything feels fresh and clean
...when it's fall

Punk Meets Bride

My mother got married in September of 1980. Recently, we pulled out the dress and had a fashion show, Anna and I that is, since the dress is far too small for anyone else. It was slightly big on me (I'm holding on to the small hope that I may grow someday) but it fit Anna. Who is fourteen. I swallowed my pride and the following is the photoshoot I did of her in it. We had a little fun with hair, shoes, and accessories too, just to make it a little less matrimonial. :P Our look was Punk Meets Bride.
Rock on Anna, rock on.
We have an old barn we use for storage which we rummaged through to find interesting things to throw in the pictures. One of which was a wooden bat.
Check out that rock:
Oh, and the shoes just kind of rocked as well.

Laughing at the looks we got from passers-by.
It was a rather fabulous thing to do on a Tuesday afternoon. We had a blast.
And my model was rather gorgeous, which just made it even better.

and I held the sun in my hand

There's something about watching the sun rise from the back of a horse.

There's something about eating the day, with all it's fire and force.

There's something about the feeling, when you hold the sun in your hand.
And something about love that I don't understand.

It's In The Air

We went from 3 feet of snow to no snow in about a week. Now that I've tasted Spring, I don't want Winter back. I love all the seasons, but there's something about Spring that makes me want to celebrate! To start out the season right, I had to take some snapshots of Natalie and Anna.
Aren't these window frames the coolest? We found them in the hold airplane hanger on our property. Our house is actually built on a runway, the previous owner had his own little plane.
No, they're not in a band.
And then I had to get in there and document my presence.

Happy Spring!

You Look Funny

"It is an immense importance to learn to laugh at ourselves." -Katherine Mansfield Even while you look too thin...
Even while your hair is graying...
Even if your nose is far too large...

Just Laugh.
