Talent Night

Emily, Anna, and I have been taking this drama class for several months and last Saturday our group performed at a talent show. There was dancing, singing, people playing piano...etc. The skit I was in was called "Watch Out for Temptation" which was in the middle of the second act, and the one Anna was in was called "All For None" and was at the very end of the whole thing.
Sorry that the pictures are so blurry, it was really hard to get a good picture because the lighting was pretty bad. Here is my skit, I'm the one that is hidden behind the mic stand. :)
We practiced our skit twice before the performance, and both times messed up at the same spot, the week before we couldn't even get through our skit without stopping, so it was a little nerve-racking getting up in front of 200 people to do it. But amazingly, it was the best we had ever done it! That was pretty true of all of the skits, they were all really good and everyone laughed at all the funny parts, so that was good. We were so glad we pulled it off we were running and jumping down the hallway afterwards.
Anna's skit was really good, she's in the green. But the performance that stole the show was this little boy who got up there with a harmonica and just kept going up and down, up and down. He would pause, then go at it again, it was hilarious! For about two minutes he 'played' the harmonica and then made this really low bow at the end. The crowd went wild at the end, it was so funny! The whole thing was a lot better than I expected it to be and we all had fun.

Weekday Weekend

Thursday night Anna and I went over to our friend Natalie's house to spend the night. We stayed up late watching a movie, and then when we finally decided to go to bed, Natalie's cat Scratchy decided to sleep on my couch (we were in the living room). I didn't mind until he started cleaning himself, he was right next to my leg and kept moving. I looked at my alarm clock and it said that it was 12:50am which didn't make sense. I was really bummed that I had only been sleeping for an hour, and now I wasn't tired at all. Then I heard Mrs. K come down the stairs and wondered why she would be going for a walk at one in the morning, she had said that she was going at six. When Scratchy realized that I was awake he crawled up me until his head was about an inch from mine and started purring. I pushed him down on my lap but he kept trying to come back up. Finally he was sick of being pushed away and went to annoy Natalie who was sleeping on the floor. I went back to sleep and woke up to sunlight and two inches of slushy snow. It was seven o'clock even though my clock was trying to tell me that it was 4 something. It must have been dropped sometime the day before. In the morning we made yummy blueberry pancakes and scrambled eggs for everyone and then went outside to shovel the neighbors driveway. I know, we're such good Samaritans. :P
The snow was really wet and heavy but it was kind of fun to shovel. I don't usually shovel my driveway, it would take all day.

Anna was shoveling too, but she was the one taking the pictures.
After that we walked down to the local cafe and I had a caramel latte and piece of biscotti, all the specialty drinks were half off. I meant to take pictures but I forgot to. Ha!

My Mini Vacation

For my birthday, which was like three months
ago...*ahem*...Teresa told me she was going to take me to Hunter Mt. Well, apparently, things got a little busy, and we were just now able to go. We left at 6:30 yesterday morning, and got there around 9am. (it's in the Catskill Mts.) It was definitely bigger than good old GP! Haha. ;) We had amazing fun!

It was amazing how the weather changed. We would be at the bottom and the sun was shining, and by the time we got to the top, there would be snow in the air! So weather wise, it was such a beautiful day!! But as the day went on, the snow just got worse. It was really slushy and wet. Not exactly the snowboarder's dream conditions. ;)

And their terrain park was AMAZING! I loved it! :D They had some really sweet jumps...and I got some really sweet air. ;) That's basically where we spent most of our time. lol. It was a blast. Now it won't be long until I'll be planning my next road trip down there! Oh yeah...good times...

A Taste of Spring

Yesterday Anna and I went outside to enjoy the warmth! (if you can call 43 degrees warm) It was the first time this year I had gone outside just for the sake of going outside. There was hardly any snow on the ground, and that was in little patches. It was warm, windy, and light outside and it was after 6:30! I'm looking forward to longer days.
We visited the horses. Starting with the one on the left they are Bai, Mystique, and Zeke. They need to be brushed and ridden! I think they want some green grass to eat, instead of having to eat dry hay all the time.
I haven't been that exited about spring coming and all the snow melting until now. It will be kind of sad when we can't go skiing anymore, but I'm sure I'll get over it. :)

Singed Granola

Every morning for breakfast I have the same thing: cherios and granola with honey on top. For some reason I never get sick of it! So I end up making the granola every few weeks even though other people do eat it. So this week I was talking on the phone while the granola was in the oven. When the timer rang I turned it off and happily finished my conversation and hung up. Awhile later I came back into the kitchen and noticed that the granola was still in the oven! Thankfully it wasn't burned, it was only singed. :) It still tasted good, and we all had some. Some had a bigger serving than others. I guess that comes with being the cook. :)

Piano Pieces

I have been taking piano for about four years. For the first few years, my older sister Sarah taught me, and now I take lessons from the accompanist for my older sisters voice recitals, she's really good. So here is me playing my fingers off. I love playing the piano! It is the foundation to playing any other instrument. I had a piano lesson today, and I passed three of my songs and got three new ones.

"An Orange a Day"

Mom has been buying these really good oranges lately. So I just realized that I have been eating an orange a day! They are really good. So I was cutting an orange a little before dinner, and then mom had the idea to use some of the orange for a garnish on the plates! I then cut some of the orange slices in half and put them on the side of the plates. Personally I thought that the "plating and presentation" would make food network jealous! (Just kidding!) So here is the beautiful plate. We had imperial chicken, strawberry romaine salad, and sweet potatoes.

Yummy Cookies

Tonight we had some friends of ours, Kevin and Will over and told them they had to make dessert. :) So Kevin went into our pantry and got out some cake mix (I'm not sure where that came from). I thought that it was cheating, so we made cookies out of the mix and added some more stuff. Walnuts, chocolate chips, and peanut butter chips to be exact. They were so yummy! I think I ate too many, but I couldn't really help it.

I think Emily liked them too. Just a thought.

Skiing today

Today we went to GP to ski and I convinced Teresa to lend me her old camera so we could take pictures! :) I didn't take very many because conditions were pretty bad, it was really windy and cold and I wanted to stay inside my warm jacket.
We met Laura and Michelle in the morning and skiied with them. Emily, Laura and Anna loved all the puffy snow, and it must be because they were all snowboarding, because both Michelle and I thought it was terrible!

We would be going like 2 miles an hour and then hit a patch of ice and start picking up speed and then hit a pile of powder. It was a wonder I didn't fall or do a face-plant. It cleared up a little later and was great for taking pictures, but of course I had left the camera inside by that time. The view from the lift is pretty cool. The houses in the background are the GP condos. It was fun, even though it was cold and miserable out. We'll defenitely be back before all the snow melts!

Exciting NEW Revelation!

I just have to share this... =)

Normally when you have to read a book for school, it's boring, annoying, and usually disagreeable. It's always like pulling teeth to get through the darn thing. But I just read the most amazing book EVER!! Once in a great while there will be a real cool one. And this was definitely one of them.
It's called "I Almost Died", written by Ern Baxter. He was a minister and a real powerful man of God. As a young kid, he was nicknamed 'skinny', so you can kind of guess what he looked like. He played every sport in high school, and was just really fit all the way around. At the age of 22 he got married. But that's where it went down hill for him... He just became, well, let me use the well known phrase, 'fat and happy'. He just didn't care anymore. Although topping 300 Ibs. was never his life time goal, that's exactly where he went. By the time he was in his 60's, his body was so ruined, that he had a heart attach and was put in the hospital. He had just lost control with his eating habits, and not only that, but he was totally run down from his crazy busy preaching schedule. He never rested himself, and used his poor old body up till it just wouldn't function anymore. Talk about depression. After he was sent home, he realized how much damage he had taken to his body, and how little time his really had to live. He just knew he would die soon, his body would just give up. But God had other plans...
A friend of his sent him and his wife to a 'retreat' at a medical rehab institute. His life was radically changed from that point on. Not only did he loose a lot of weight, but they learned how to eat right, and how to live a healthy lifestyle. They also learned how to exercise, which is a very important factor to a healthy life. And because of that, his life was prolonged, and he actually became excited about LIVING!!
So there is a really important message in this; God cares about our physical bodies, and He tells us to be good stewards and take care of it, for His Glory!! He, Ern, pointed this out; if you think about it, there are so many obese preachers and powerful men of God, who talk about sinful self-indulgence, and they themselves are a living proof of it! They get caught up on focusing on 'the spiritual things' and don't pay any attention to the body that they are destroying! We DO have physical bodies, and they aren't going to last forever. There are so many Scriptures on how God wants us to take care of them. I think alot of Christians today think of that as 'sinful' or 'vain'. Ok, so you just want to die pre-maturely because you have no self control? No thanks! That's so selfish! God has called us to live life to the fullest, and to do that, we must have strong healthy bodies to enable us!!
I just got really excited when I read this, because it's such a vital point that so many of us miss! Also, here's an important thought; if people of the world who don't know God try their hardest to have a healthy body, then how much more should we Christians, to show Glory to God!
And the only excuse we can use for ourselves is...we're LAZY! And that's pretty lame. It's never to late to start a new healthy lifestyle, which is honoring God! I am so thankful that my mom always has been such a 'health nut' in our family. Sometimes I think I eat bad! Ha! Little did I know!
So just remember, God is pleased when we take care off the temple He has given us! And don't get discouraged! He will help you whenever you need encouragement. =)

Greek Peak

On Monday us three girls went to Greek Peak. So I was snowboarding. It was really slushy that day and it was really hard to carve. So I was going down a little hill to where the lift was, and I got stuck in a rut and I could not get out! All I saw as I was flying down the hill was the motor for the lift and I was like, I am not going into the motor! I was so scared. But all of a sudden I hit a post right on the ribs on my side! It did not hurt at first but that night it was really sore. But I was glad that I did not go into the motor.
Also that night us girls went to see Horton Hear's a Who! It was so funny I would definitely recommend it!

Spring is Here!

Despite what you see out your window, today is the first day of spring! I guess you could celebrate it by sledding. :) This morning I wrote a poem about it, so here it is:

I looked at the calendar,
It said that it was spring,
I looked for all the crocuses,
But I didn’t see a thing.

I listened for the birds,
But didn’t hear a sound,
Instead when I looked out,
I saw snow upon the ground.

Everywhere I looked,
There was a blanket of white,
And though I like the winter,
I didn’t think that it was right.

Spring should be filled
With flowers and sun,
I guess winter decided
That it wasn’t quite done.

Since they say it’s spring,
When it’s winter we’re in,
Perhaps when summer comes,
Then spring will begin.
