Alive and Well
First let me say, nobody died. :) But this is how thinking of death came about...
Teresa has been working on this movie in NYC for the past month. In the movie there's an undertaker guy who takes pictures of the people who are dead before they're barried. Yeah, he's a little weird. They needed pictures of people, so Teresa volunteered to be the photographer. She came up here and did a few photoshoots in a couple of different places and some of us pretended to be dead people for her. We got to lay in a 'casket' and look like we were dead, it was quite strange. Kind of fun, but weird. And that is how I came to write the poem.
The End.

Life in Death
I cannot tell you how many times I have started this post. Too many. Needless to say I have given up and am instead going to post a poem I wrote that says everything I was going to say anyway. Maybe not in so many words, but you'll get my point. My brain is fried from staring at this computer monitor longer than any human should without accomplishing anything. So without further ado, my poem...
In a casket
Clothed in black
Weeping tears
Cannot call back
The silent form
That lies so still
For death itself
You cannot kill.
Immortal beings
That we are
Find ourselves
Not so far
From the door
Of life and death
When we shall draw
Our final breath.
But is there hope
To be found
After we
Are in the ground
Is there life
After the grave
Is there one
Able to save?
I will not fear
The grave so cold
I will not fear
Growing old
For I know
That Jesus waits
For me at
The pearly gates.
In a casket
Clothed in black
Weeping tears
Cannot call back
The silent form
That lies so still
For death itself
You cannot kill.
Immortal beings
That we are
Find ourselves
Not so far
From the door
Of life and death
When we shall draw
Our final breath.
But is there hope
To be found
After we
Are in the ground
Is there life
After the grave
Is there one
Able to save?
I will not fear
The grave so cold
I will not fear
Growing old
For I know
That Jesus waits
For me at
The pearly gates.

Sam's Buffett
After History Class today, Mom had to go to Sam's Club. I had snatched some money from dad's coin jar that morning so I could buy a soft pretzel, but turns out I didn't need it. We just ate at Sam's Club Eat n' Shop. I have never seen so many samples in my life! This is the list of what I ate for 'lunch.'
- assorted nuts
- Ghirardelli chocolate square
- pecan pie
- turkey and stuffing
- apple crisp with ice cream
- honey baked chicken wing
- 2 franks in a blanket (Anna's and mine)
- Cracker with cheese spread
- smoothie
- Belgian walnut chocolate fudge
We had so much sugar, Mom and I broke into the bag of baby carrots when we got to the car. :) But hey, it saved Dad a whole dollar!

The Road that Leads to Nowhere
My feet plod down this dusty road
The road that has no end,
For miles and miles it stretches on
And here my life I’ll spend.
What I seek I do not know
Perhaps I seek nothing at all,
Only to see the trail in front of me
And to follow its beckoning call.
What’s around the next corner?
What is around the bend?
Only the road that leads to nowhere
The road that has no end.
(I wrote this last year for school)

Square night
Last year Anna and I went with a group of people on a church retreat so that we could watch all the kids while the rest of the people had their meetings. We stayed with Tonika and Judith, and for the two night we were there we stayed up until 2am playing 'square' (also known as 'kemp'). And since then we have had two other square nights, it's sort of become a tradition. Saturday night was one of them.
Our sweet snoopy cards.
Anna and Judith having a stare-down. Anna looks like Frozone.

Only Because...
It isn't because I am perfect,
It isn't that I have no sin,
It's only because the light of Christ
Has cleansed me out and in.
It isn't because I have arrived
To some perfection of mankind,
It's only because of this promise:
"If you seek then you shall find."
It isn't because of my works
That Jesus has accepted me,
It's only because of His love
That He has set me free.
It isn't because I have finished
The race He's set me to run,
It's only because through His grace
That He has already won.
It isn't because He needs me
To carry out His plan,
It's only because of who He is,
And that makes me who I am.
It isn't that I have no sin,
It's only because the light of Christ
Has cleansed me out and in.
It isn't because I have arrived

Kiki visits
Kiki (otherwise known as Anneke) came over Thursday. Yes, that is a name of my own invention, I thought the name Anneke was too long. Don't ask me why, since my name is Abigail...but that's beside the point.
We decided to 'do' Emily's hair, and I must say it was an amazing sight. We put our entire hair basket on Emily's head.
The finished project. Isn't it amazing? For some reason she didn't want to wear it to work, I can't imagine why. I mean, after all the time we spent doing her hair...so ungrateful.
And then Anna and Kiki decided to drive around on our 4-wheeler through all of our pine trees to look for a little one to put in our room. We were driving over all these really tall weeds and got completely covered in little seeds. They think they've found the perfect tree, which was about 7 feet tall, but they want to just cut off the top. We'll see. All I know is that I'm not cleaning up any pine needles. :)

Shoe boxes
Every year our family has done a Christmas shoe box through Samaritan's Purse, but this year, Anna and I decided to do our own. It was so much fun! We did the 10-14 girl, and filled it for $25! That was the best part, we got a ton of deals.
The deadline to get your boxes in is in between November 17-24. It's a really great (and fun) thing to do.
