To Take, or Not To Take

Anna and I have been in a drama class since October, and last night we had our final performance where we did a bunch of skits. We all were asked to bring something for dinner, so I decided on making cookies. I made Toll House Cookies with Oatmeal, which I remembered was really good the last time I had it. I slaved in the kitchen all morning and got nothing else done, I made around 5 1/2 dozen cookies. Either I left something out of the recipe when I copied it into my recipe book, or it just wasn't my day. They turned out terrible! They were so dry and crumbly, and they tasted like sawdust. Everyone agreed with me (aka: Dad and Anna). So instead of bringing cookies, I mixed up some lemonade/peach iced tea. I know it took a lot of effort to poor in the powder, but I was not about to make more cookies, especially since we had to leave. Guess what the dogs will be having for dinner? :D

That's hilarious!!! My mom said she probably killed several neighborhood dogs when she was first learning how to make gravy! Olivia

I still think your "scrambled egg brownies" was the best cooking story in the world :)

Aw...that's annoying! Sometimes when baking doesn't turn out right it still tastes good, but when you don't even want to eat it, it's so frustrating! I did something like that with pancakes once...I made them once from a cookbook, and then copied down the recipe...well, next time I make them I realize I'd left out part of the recipe and no wonder they didn't work right! :D

I was making these carrots for part of my special Mother's Day gormet meal for my mommy last saturday night! And this recipe was completely new to me, but sounded good! I was supposed to put sugar, flour, corn starch and orange juice in a pot and stir it till it got to a certain texture and it was supposed to boil for a min. or so. (at least I think that's what I was supposed to put in it...AHHHh) Well after I had put everything in it, it quickly became extremely thick and I was supposed to melt butter into it while it boiled. Well, the icky stuff and the butter completely separated and smelled funny. I poured over the cooked carrots and tasted it and it was NASTY! then I realized the recipe called for 3 teaspoons of corn starch and I put 3 TABLESPOONS. Argh. I rinsed off the carrots and started all over and poured a glazed sauce over it! It was really the recipe books fault though. They spelled teaspoon and Tablespoon both with small t's and it through me off.
Gosh that was long...SORRY!! =/
